What is B'tzelem Elohim?

I know you're probably here to first and foremost figure out how to pronounce this name? The best way I can put it is: bet/zel/em el/oh/heem. It means "in the image of God" or "made in God's image" in Hebrew.

Why make it my brand name?

3 reasons. I knew I wanted a name for my business that was detached from my personal name, something different, and something that would bring glory to God. As someone who loves Jesus I not only see this as a business, but ministry too! One of the first verses of God's word is Genesis 1:27: "Let us make humankind in Our image, according to Our likeness." B'tzelem Elohim literally means in the likeness of God. It's a reminder to me that whoever I am capturing is made in God's image whether they're a believer or not. They're His creation wonderfully and beautifully made. It reminds me that all of creation and my creativity points back to His creativity. Sovereignty. Majesty. Wonder. Awe. My hope is that through this gift of Photography and Videography that I am able to show people through their images just how beautiful they are.

The goal is to be a light. To uplift. Encourage. And bring joy to other's lives! Pictures and videos are precious gifts. B'tzelem Elohim serves as a constant reminder to me, as an image bearer of Christ, to walk in kindness, gentleness, authenticity, integrity, and respect towards anyone I have the pleasure of working with! It's first a reminder to myself that I am His child created in His image and with that comes a call to imitate Him and His ways.

Also, I wanted a name that had word play and one that made sense for my business. Because my brand is literally me taking images of people, through photography and videography, the name felt felicitous! I prayed about a new brand name for months and one day in January I kept hearing "in God image, but look it up in Hebrew." So I did, but it took me a while to come back around to it. I doubted God's still small voice leading me to this name. I believe it was on Feb. 10th, 2023 that I felt God tell me "I've already given you the name. T'zelem Elohim. Don't doubt it." I stepped out on faith and ran with it and then purchased a new domain February 12th to make it official. And the name grew on me. It was meaningful, distinct, and SO fitting for my mission behind this biz. Capturing people through the lens of my physical lens and through the lens of my Father is my heartbeat in this biz! This is how B'tzelem Elohim Co came about! Having a name for my business brings so much more purpose, vision, and direction to my work. I am so excited for the rest of this journey!
